7-378, 30-378, 338-378 weatherby MAGNUM

We have always been great admirers of Roy Weatherby. He has done so much for the industry. The 378 Weatherby case is the parent to many calibers. 

Initial testing for the Mountain Thumper XL proved a problem we address on the Norma page. The big Weatherbys have so much capacity that they serve no advantage over the Normas in 19" barrels. It wasn't until a 24" barrel and longer COALs were used to get the Weatherbys to be more than 100 FPS faster than the Normas. The Normas tapped out with massive compressed loads and there was nothing that could be done.

Performance with Ultra High BC bullets will be 3150 FPS for the 30-378 when using 220gr bullets. 2975 FPS for the 338-378 using 300gr bullets. There are a few 30 cal silencers capable of handling the 30-378. For the 338-378, A Surefire is the best choice.
